Is this Bristol tender for Care Home Services the first of many?
We recently noticed a tender in Bristol for the Provision of Care Home Services. As tender writing specialists in the social care sector, this may not strike you as anything out of the ordinary. Indeed, we keep an eye out for social care tenders of all types at all times.
But the reason we particularly took note of this tender in Bristol, was because of the possibility that it may signal a change in social care tendering strategy.
It’s usual to see Local Authorities commissioning for care services, such as domiciliary care, supported living, extra care, reablement etc. We write these tenders for organisations across the length and breadth of the UK including Northern Ireland.
When it comes to Care Homes, these have been left untouched by council procurement teams.
Which brings us back to the Bristol tender. This particular contract notice from Bristol City Council in conjunction with Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group is targeting Care Homes.
Why is that notable?
Because until very recently, local councils have not been using tenders to procure these services. All credit to Bristol City Council for coming together and working in partnership with their local Clinical Commissioning Group to provide a more joined up service.
When bodies as large and with as much spending power as Bristol CCG and Bristol City Council start behaving differently, it’s our job at Insequa to sit up and take notice.
Remember. You heard it here first.
