Care Workers’ Day 2019
Soon it will be 4th September and that means it’s the second time around for professional Care Workers’ Day. It’s a day to celebrate all that is good about the wonderful staff delivering care across the social care sector.
Care staff work very hard, often for little appreciation or financial reward and Professional Care Workers’ Day attempts to highlight the need for recognition and respect for this too often overlooked profession.
The expertise and skill required to deliver care in the lives of vulnerable people is often underestimated and hugely undervalued. The National Association of Care Workers has been working tirelessly to raise the profile of the work that care workers do, campaigning for better recognition, wages and career development opportunities.
The theme for this year’s Professional Care Workers’ day is wellbeing. It’s no secret that being a care worker can be stressful and hard work. Working conditions are not always easy and wellbeing can suffer. That’s why there’s a focus this year on things that help care workers look after themselves and feel better, such as free consultations with physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists, beauty and massage therapists and money and career advice, too. There will be a national event held in London at The Human Rights Action Centre between 10am and 7pm and a few regional events across the country. Take a look at the NACAS website to learn how you can get involved.
