The Unmissables at Day 2 – The Residential and Home Care Show
What a fantastic day! Today was the first of a two-part extravaganza of social care mingling and it went very well. We welcomed many visitors to our stand (D70), reacquainting ourselves with old friends and meeting some new faces, too. Our prime position by the food area and The Home Care Theatre, meant we were able to capture the attention of:
Hungry people with an interest in tender writing, policies and CQC support
Hungry people on their way to the Home Care Theatre with an interest in tender writing, policies and CQC support
People who weren’t particularly hungry making their way to The Home Care Theatre with an interest in tender writing, policies and CQC support
If you are coming to the show tomorrow (the 27thJune) here are our hot picks from the conference programme for presentations you really shouldn’t miss. Yes, it’s the ‘unmissables’ the sequel… As we said yesterday, no offence to anyone who doesn’t feature – let us know, we stand to be corrected.
Disrupting the care market
Adam Hutchison from Belmont Healthcare 10.05 in the Residential Care Theatre will be diving in to the topic of disruption in the care market. It’s always fascinating to hear how others are approaching familiar problems with fresh perspectives – this interesting presentation promises unexpected and exciting insights.
Have you ever wanted to ask Matt Hancock what’s going on? Questions like, “Where’s the Green Paper for Social Care, Matt?” or “Why do you think every problem in social care has a digital fix?” then here’s the next best thing. Introducing our second contender for the ‘unmissables’ pick and mix, Richard Sloggett. He’s special advisor to Health and Social Care Minister The Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, and he’s going to be answering questions. He can be found at The Keynote Theatre at 11.00. Get there early, there may be a queue.
Hotfoot it now to the Residential Care Theatre for 12.40 where you will have the pleasure of experiencing a presentation by Sophie Coulthard of The Judgement Index. She will be delivering a talk called Simple Secrets for Effective Leadership. Sophie is an expert on the selection, development and retention of staff in care organisations using the Judgement Index assessment. If you’re seeking reductions in staff turnover, and growth in the positive working environment, come and listen to Sophie. You should also be able to pick up a copy of the new book she has co-authored, The Care Leader’s Handbook, a practical guide to care leadership that should be on every Registered Manager and care organisation’s bookshelf.
Go large with Big Ian
Big Ian Donaghy is the social care gift that keeps on giving. He’s a dynamo, an engaging, endearing, challenging ball of energy that never comes to a standstill. Whether it’s hosting awards ceremonies, campaigning for dementia awareness, shooting films, organising music festivals or delivering motivational talks, he never stops. And social care is always at the heart of things. As his bio so eloquently states
If you want the same old beige slides with bullet point, bullet point, snore…go somewhere else!”
But if you want to be entertained, educated, moved and motivated, make your way to the Home Care Theatre at 14.25 for his presentation: Dementia is a Team Game. You won’t be disappointed.
One year on
And our final pick of the day is in The Keynote Theatre at 14.40 where Ian Trenholm, Chief Executive of the Care Quality Commission will be giving a talk. He will be setting out his vision for regulation in an increasingly complex, ever-changing health and care system. Exploring the themes of integration and collaboration and the challenges these represent, and how the CQC can respond to ensure improved outcomes across the board. He will touch upon how the CQC is set to change in the coming years in response to the progress of integration and technology. He has been in the role for a year now, and the audience will be able to put questions and give feedback afterwards. Do you have a burning question for Mr Trenholm?
So that’s a wrap on our ‘unmissables’ for Day 2 of The Residential and Home Care Show. Don’t forget if you’re at the exhibition, do come and say hello to us on Stand D70. We can talk to you about tender writing, CQC Inspection Support or compliance solutions all day long. Or call us on 0115 896 3999.
